Trader Joe’s Opens on Greenville Ave

Trader Joe’s is the the latest to join a handful of new grocers recently opening in East Dallas. Eight grocery stores have opened in the area since 2009.

The new location is at 2001 Greenville Ave, across the street from a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market that just opened last fall. The Greenville Ave Trader Joe’s is the third store in North Texas, after locations in Fort Worth and Plano.  Another new grocery just entering the North Texas market, The Fresh Market plans to open in the area sometime around late 2014.

Murals inside the newest Trader Joe’s adds some Texas flair to the company’s Hawaiian theme.  Employees wear Hawaiian shirts, and Hawaiian-style flowers grace other portions of the walls, and at the Greenville Ave location paintings of Dallas landmarks such as the Cotton Bowl and Reunion Tower adorn the walls.

The company refers to itself as a neighborhood grocery store and boasts that most of the products it sells are under the Trader Joe brand. According to Supermarket News, Trader Joe’s had $10.5 billion in sales in 2012 with 400 stores.
