Deep Ellum’s Pop-Up Art Scene

The art exhibition known as Deep Ellum Windows produced a series of weekend pop-up gallery events from February through May. Apophenia Underground and Deep Ellum 42 partnered to fill the vacant storefronts owned by 42 with curated displays of innovative local artists. Jeff Gibbons and Justin Ginsberg orchestrated the events which took place on Main Street between Good-Latimer Expressway and North Crowdus Street. Similar to the curated gallery shows at local, boutique, and sometimes off-the-beaten-path galleries, the Windows brought a different crowd to the streets of Deep Ellum. As 42 is looking to lease many of the properties they recently purchased, the art events showcased the raw, unfinished spaces highlighting their unique historic architecture in an artistic light.
