Etihad Airways & Qatar Airways launching new Dallas/Fort Worth service to the Middle East
Etihad Airways announced this month that in December 2014 it will begin offering three flights per week from Dallas/Fort Worth International to its Abu Dhabi hub.
Etihad Airways is the third and most recent Middle Eastern airline to fly direct into D/FW International. Qatar Airways, announced service from Doha, Qatar, to D/FW Airport in July 2014, and Emirates Airlines began service from Dubai in 2012.
The strong American hub at D/FW influenced teh decision, since Etihad already code-shares — puts its name and flight number on — American flights out of New York, Chicago, Washington, Los Angeles and Paris.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ president and chief executive added that the United States is an important global market for Etihad Airways, and Dallas/Fort Worth a key U.S. destination and hub. By the end of 2014, Ethad Airways will serve five American cities.
