Tech Wildcatters ranked among top 15 seed accelerators in the U.S
Of the nation’s top 15 seed accelerators just announced, Dallas’ own Tech Wildcatters is named the 8th best seed accelerator in the U.S. Now in its third year, it’s the first time Tech Wildcatters made on the list. The only other Texas program included was Houston-based Surge, which focuses on energy tech programs.
The Dallas program focuses on business-to-business startups. Founded in 2010, Tech Wildcatters is now on its 6th and largest class of 14 startups. Of the graduates from the program, two have exited, and other have raised millions in further seed investment. The program provides $25,000 in seed funds and mentoring and other resources in areas such as customer development, business models and fundraising. In return, the program takes up to a 10 percent equity in each business.
The List’s evaluators were Prof. Yael Hochberg of the MIT Sloan School of Management, and Prof. Susan Cohen of the University of Richmond. They considered each accelerators’ financing activity, number of exits, reputation with leading venture capital firm, alumni network, equity taken and stipend. Data came from the programs themselves as well as independent sources.
