More than 25 colleges and universities call North Texas home, ten of which are within the Dallas city limits or literally accross the street.

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas boasts three Nobel laureates on its faculty, more than any other Texas university.

Public Schools

The Dallas Independent School District has the two top nationally ranked high schools in the US. The School for the Talented & Gifted and the School of Science & Engineering, are ranked by Newsweek in 2011 as #1 and #2 in the nation, respectively.

In 2010-2011, there were 133 state-designated exemplary and recognized public school campuses in Dallas. In the City of Dallas by School District: Dallas Independent School District- 78, Richardson- 33, Duncanville- 8, Plano- 5, Carrollton-Farmers Branch- 5.

Private Schools

Many private schools are available such as the Hockaday School, Jesuit College Prep School, St Mark’s School and Ursuline Academy.  Dallas also has international schools, faith-based schools, and special needs schools.
