Dallas Area Rapid Transit will run its first test of a light rail train on the 5-mile extension of the Orange Line into Irving on Monday.
The Orange Line train will travel from Bachman Station to the Irving Convention Center.
“These initial tests will check train movements, the overhead electrical system, and vehicle clearances prior to the start of integrated testing and safety certification,” DART said. “Because the train is still in test mode, it will stop frequently to conduct clearance measurements and other tests as needed.”
The 5-mile segment of the Orange Line opens to the public on July 30. DART plans to complete construction o of the line to its terminus at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport by the end of 2014.
